Wolf Caves Run

Well this weekend was interesting to say the least. Thursday afternoon after I got the jeep loaded up and everything packed I went to park the truck and trailer and ended up breaking a water line in the yard. Hours later I finally got it fixed. Woke up early Friday morning and hit the road for Wolf Caves. I was making damn good time until I got close to Eden, Tx and noticed my temp gauge max out. I pulled over and immediately smelled coolant. Popped the hood and realized my belt was torn to shreds. I pulled all the pieces off and inspected all my pulleys. Turns out I blew my water pump. Being in the middle of nowhere, I unloaded the jeep and started driving towards the nearest town. Well Eden doesn’t even have a parts store so I drove 30 minutes to Menard, TX. I stopped at the obvious place(Napa), but they didn’t have what I needed. On to the next parts store(Wagner Tire) and they had everything I needed. Drove back and did a water pump swap on the side of the road. Couple of hours later I was back on the road, and now it was dark. About twenty minutes from Wolf Caves a deer decided to play kamikaze with my pickup. I was able to avoid it with the front of my pickup, but it side swiped my back door and slammed into my trailer. When I finally made it to WC we found an antler stuck in the front tire of my jeep. We ate dinner and drank ourselves to sleep hoping that Saturday would be a different day.

Saturday we got up early and had an awesome breakfast before hitting the trails. There were only 3 rigs in our group and that proved to be perfect. Snick was cruising his Campbell buggy, our buddy Danny was in his white JK, and then me in my stock jeep. Our plan was just cruise around the park and hit some greens and yellows. We weren’t looking to do anything extreme or beyond the capabilities of our rigs. We got off the trails around 4pm and headed back to camp for some dinner. We had dinner and then spent the evening reminiscing around the campfire. Good times were had and it was awesome catching up with old friends.

Hope the trip home was better than the trip out :) Glad you all got to hang out and visit. I sure wanted to come, but too many irons in the fire and I knew if Project Freedom had moonshine I would be sleeping in the truck... :chrfal: :smokin: I was expecting drunk texts and calls. Snick must be getting old.. I think he's over 40 now ain't he.. I see Zach made it also. Good times.. Did any of the New Mexico guys make it beside you? Thanks for the pics can use some of those for the Calendar...

We talked about calling you Saturday night, but opted out. We did talk about how old we’ve all gotten and how awesome it would be to get everyone together again. Mark came down with the Chinese virus so he couldn’t make it. I made the trip solo. And the moonshine was great.

Great weekend of wheeling. It got damn close to freezing Friday night in the tent. Think we’re getting too old to camp. And Robert went home with some new body mods.

I had a great time. I have not been real wheeling in a few years. Best part was catching up with great friends and meeting some new ones.

And yes Kenny I am defiantly over the hill and have the gray hair infusion to match.

It was a fun trip. I've driven by the park several times, but that's my first time there.

The only part that sucked was not having my own ride. Maybe it'll motivate me to get it running.

Probably not...lol
