the conglomeration

a few of you may remember "the conglomeration". I call it this because it is a conglomeration of parts. Toyota frame, Samurai cab, GM 229 V6 motor, GM T350 transmission, dual Toyota cases, and Toyota axles. one linked in the rear with a grader ball and still on leafs in the front, it is the first buggy I ever bought and I only wheeled it once at Trees Ranch but I was hooked. lightweight, easy to tow, no worry about body damage.
this is what it looked like when I got it.

I think I may have owned this thing 10 years now, I have tried to sell it or trade it several times with no luck. I always kinda wanted to get it going again to see how it would do with the V6 and automatic transmission. a few weeks ago a friend of mine who is a budding fabricator and I were talking and he is wanting to build a trans axle buggy. I have a few Saturns and we struck a deal, he is going to redo it and freshen it up. this is sorta how we hope to have it look

I ordered some parts for it over the last few years. I am converting to propane and have a complete set up I have pieced together. LED lights. winch. mastercraft seats. 39.5 Iroks on aluminum beadlocks (Thanks Chris) for now, eventually hope to go to 39" reds. intake and cam.

Justin (fabricator) and I have been friends for a while and we have talked about this through texts messages for a while. a couple of weekends ago he came over and we talked parts and trading and plans. then last weekend he came over and we loaded the buggy up. I had left the buggy sitting outside and it was in a bad, sad state. I robbed the front axle at one time for another wheeling buddy's project but I had kept a good axle off one of my F-toys.

Justin came over last Sunday and we loaded it up. it took a bit of working at it since it did not have a front axle. I drug it out into the driveway with my yellow buggy and we picked the front end up with an engine hoist and then he backed the trailer under it and we used a floor jack under the front end and winched it on the trailer. we then loaded the axle and tires on it so he could get back home.

yesterday (Monday the 21st) we were both off so I met him at his shop and we put the axle under it while it was on the trailer along with the front tires and then winched it off into his shop. there we put the back tires on and started the tear down.

the shakedown run will probably be at Wolf Caves. I am in no hurry or on a timetable to get this done. I haven't been back over there since Monday and he hasn't worked on it either. he is in the process of selling his house and moving out in the country. he already has a slab poured for a 40x40 shop and it may be completed by now but he is waiting to get the house out there.

looking for recommendations for a shifter for this thing? I am thinking of a Winters or a basic stock car shifter.

also, I plan on doing a good tune up on this engine also, so any advice or recommendations on that?
