Ok, after a request, I have decided to post up a build/project thread for the race car. I apologize that it isn't 4wd but it lives (and dies) off road.

I will try to add the back story as the thread grows. I will also be adding pictures.

I bought the car in April of 2014, lost my job in September of 2014, got divorced in July of 2015. There were a few things that needed to be done for me to feel comfortable to race the car. I did what I could, as fast as I could and premiered the car in July of 2016 at the TDRA Texana 180 Race to Midnight. I have a race partner that lives in Austin. He is my co-driver/navigator. He has been essential in keeping me calm and focused, both in the car and in the shop. His most famous quote, "do you like working on the car or racing the car?" Me, "RACING THE CAR!!!" Ben, "then stop fucking with it, fix what's broke and let's go racing." This conversation happens more often than I'd like to admit, but it works. Since July of 2016, I have missed 2 races. My other co-driver/navigator is my oldest daughter (middle child). She was 15 on our first race. She is now 19. She only missed 1 race with me, because of sports in high school. My son, (oldest child) and my other daughter, (youngest child) have all been a part of the race team. Whether it's setting up pit, pre-running or co-driving, this is a family sport. This season, I have added my girlfriend and her 2 kids. It is VERY new to them, but they seem to enjoy it. More on the story to follow...….

By the way, the team name has evolved. Early on, we were nameless. Then we became Baaad Sheep Racing, but I never "loved" the name. As the result of a pretty intense wreck in April of 2017, I rebranded the team as Kartwheel Racing last month at the 2020 TDRA Texana 180 Race to Midnight. In April of 2017, My daughter and I were on our first lap {mile 17 of a 300 mile race) when I hit a cross ditch too fast, flipping the car end over end and breaking into a barrel roll, flipping once and rolling 4 times. We landed on our wheels. We were both ok, no injuries. Car fired up but was not running right. We made it another few hundred feet and I got out to assess the damage. We were done. But this event, that we have joked about since, became the inspiration for the current team name, earned, not given. LOL Pics to follow.

Oh, yeah, a little info.....
Class 5 Unlimited #524
We are allowed to run either, VW style air-cooled 4 cylinder, naturally asperated, or, up to a 2.5L (2500cc) water-cooled 4 cylinder engine, naturally asperated.
Air-cooled - The sky is the limit. Whatever you want, any cc as long as it's naturally asperated.
Water-cooled - All stock, no modification (bore, stroke, compression) There are several other limitations on the water-cooled engines, but it's to keep it fair. More of a driver's race than anything.

What I had - 2276cc on 100 octane race fuel
Swapping to - 2.4L Ecotec on premium pump gas.
