Jeep Wave Need Not Apply

Well...the time for hard core crawling needs a break. I got rid of my crew cab Duramax back in 2018 to build my house. The Blazer has been broken since Robert’s bachelor party shenanigans. I want to plan more trips with my kids before they grow up too quick...they’re already 13, 12, and 10.

So back in June I slowly started looking for a JK. But it was sacrilegious...me own a Jeep? Shit no. ProjectFreedom, another buddy, and I started planning a CO/ Moab summer trip. We booked our houses. My buddy is getting his JK ready. Robert is building his JK. And here I was planning to wheel the wife’s Pilot. In reality, since June I had been looking for a JK. Then in November I drove a JL. I knew that’s what I wanted. After many failed negotiations with several dealers, I finally came across the perfect JLUR last week. My wife and I headed to pick it up Saturday in Orange. It was a quick in and out deal and brought it home yesterday.

So now I’m an official Jeep owner. This is my disclaimer, there will be no Jeep waves and I won’t be hanging out at the mall. My only Jeep wave will go as posted below.

With that said, this will be a simple build as this thing is a solid foundation. Winch, CB, 2” lift, and 37s are the plan. Then slowly get into gusseting the front axle and doing mods as needed. The plan is for a mild wheeler that I can jump into and go with the family. The kids are excited for the summer trip. We have the following penciled in: Black Bear Pass, Imogene Pass, Ophir Pass, Alpine Loop, Rim Rock Trail, Hell’s Revenge, and Top of the World.

We will see how the mods/ funds flow.

Congrats man. I do not own one but everything I’ve read and watched about the JL is pretty impressive.
If I could afford one I would get one as well!

I think that's the way to go. Very few people i know go wheeling with buggies anymore so my rig just sits on jack stands. I'm looking at a clean 79 CJ 7 that will make a nice driver and mild wheeler if I can close the deal. Maybe not long drives but it will get the job done on back roads and at the deer lease.

Good look Jeep bud. I’m really thinking once my dodge is paid for this June I may go get a Jeep truck. The wife and I really enjoyed have my brother in laws jk here at the house while he as in Iraq for a year.

Best thing I did was get a streetable rig. More use in a month then the wheeling rigs got in a year.
Yep. Know exactly what you mean bud.

Just keep the JK. Buddy is drooling over getting a Ecodiesel JT next year.

Well that escalated quickly.....

not sure how the summer trip is going to pan out with this COVID crap. But the Jeep is already getting a few parts thrown at it.

Stubby Antenna
Cargo Mat
Rear bench recline mod
Mopar 2” lift
37” Patagonias with 1.5” spacers
Metal Cloak FAD skid
Steer Smarts tie rod and drag link
CavFab front and rear bumpers
CavFab tailgate reinforcement kit

Thinking of doing the Steer Smarts adjustable front track bar and adding a winch to call it done...............

front Mopar lift is done.

This thing is awesome. Just had the 37s mounted up today. Drove it for a few minutes then loaded it and brought it home. It drove awesome and really impressed with the lack of noise from the tires. Going to mess with the JScan today or tomorrow to recalibrate the tires and mess with a few other options like the ESS. Waiting on bumpers and tailgate kit to come in hopefully this week. Will also be upgrading the steering.

Looks fawesome bro! Wondering about those tires....gotta get new tow rig tires soon and lots to research.
Can’t wait for bumpers and other goodies to get here. Probably pick up a winch and call it done after that. Focus on getting the blazer going again before end of summer.
