Hey Vato when you finish weld it, make sure there’s enough head room for me on the driver side. I’m 6’ and don’t wanna feel too cramped when I drive. :flipoff:

more progress is made.. used the flap disk on the trailing arms and got some primer on them finally, going over the chassis and finish welding and cleaning up bad looking welds. gonna get started on the motor mounts this week. need to get the transmission out of the old CJ and take it to Kosubs Transmission in China Grove for a freshen up. the easy part is almost over, need to assemble my engine, go through the axles, new seals, reid knuckles, etc. add the Truss's, only like a gazillion things.. :chrfal:

I'm pleased with my welding, lots and lots of practice has taken place this past year, Tig still sucks hind tit, Mig is doing much better, even RVreddog said so..

Got a 5 day weekend coming up & I plan on spending all 5 days in the shop. except for naps, of course.. :smokin:

Do you have a metal brake or what is your plan on making the panels. I just did some redneck stuff with 2x4s to bend the panels when making mine.

Haven't got that far in my thinking yet. Don't have a brake, might see about one. 2x4 method is a good idea. need to do some more research on bending and shaping Alum for a tube chassis

got a little more done, Engine mount set in place and then all welded up. just need to weld it into the chassis now. need to take the flap disc to the trailing arms again, get all the spots I missed the primer showed up.

in regards to the above post about the metal, from looking better at pics posted of other GB LJ Chassis kits, it looks like the upper part of the Firewall is steel, not aluminum. and I think I can get away with flat panels for the biggest part. trying to decide on 3/16 or 1/4 for the upper FW part, that will hold the brakes, and probably some other stuff as well.

Worked on the 14 bolt today. Replaced wheel bearing seals, installed the Yukon locker, waiting on my Motobilt 13 bolt diff cover to come in and the 1350 U bolt yoke from AA. Need to pick up some locktite also. Need to powerwash the housing, reassemble when I have all the parts. Then I can finish the truss and put it under the chassis and set the lower link mounts. :smokin:
