Crossbow?

Anyone hunting with a crossbow now? If so, what brand you shooting? Thinking about getting one for the up and coming season since my dad just bought some land in Bowie.

Mnmstoy was big into Bow Hunting, not sure if he still is or not. I always thought it'd be cool to do, I just don't have the time for it

i think that has been changed to the whole season.

I know deer hunting with bow starts up 2 weeks before the rifle deer hunting.....unless thats changed, have not hunted in a bit. I'm sure any info you need would be in the hunting book you get when you get your license.

OP...there are so many choices. Good luck. I know Mathews has good compound bows. Maybe they have a good line of crossbow.

last I read (last year) You can hunt with a crossbow in archery season. My landlord bought one last year. I don't recall the model or make. But he spend around $800 with scope. Personally I felt it was too heavy to lug that thing all over the place. You have to working the crank to pull the string back. I tried by hand and its a bear..it can be done but in my old age not worth the trouble. very few shops let you practice at their ranges. If I had a choice between a crossbow or a rifle. I rather do a rifle. Bow hunting is by far the best adrenaline Rush I've ever had. stocking or sitting in a ground blind within a few feet from this is awesome. Doubt you can stock with a Crossbow....unless you can get a light one...but from my landlords experience he views it more like a rifle.

i shoot with a bow. i have a 1981 Pearson compound bow (one of the first compound bows) and a 1996 martin fire cat. i love my martin. great bow. as for cross bows they start and end with the bow season. IMO a cross bow is just a crap rifle... if your gonna fling sticks get a bow.

and i like axis buck and hog. shoot them all year round.
